A Tradition of Excellence Since 1910

Rivermead Golf Club was founded in 1910 and officially opened in 1911 as a nine-hole course designed by architect Charles Murray. In 1915, following the purchase of additional land, the course was then expanded to 18 holes by George Cumming - an associate of Stanley Thompson.

Over the past 115 years, Rivermead has proudly hosted numerous prestigious championships at the national, provincial, and local levels. In 1920, the Canadian Open was held at Rivermead, and for the following fifteen years the Rivermead Cup was awarded to the winner. Since 1936, the Rivermead Cup has been awarded to the low Canadian at the Canadian Open. Champions engraved on the Rivermead Cup include Walter Hagen, Tommy Armour, Moe Norman, Mike Weir, Stephen Ames, Mackenzie Hughes, Adam Hadwin, Corey Connors and Nick Taylor.

In 1948, Rivermead joined forces with the Ottawa Hunt and Royal Ottawa golf clubs to form the Ottawa District Golf Association, which evolved into today’s Ottawa Valley Golf Association (OVGA). Since 1950, Rivermead has hosted the esteemed Alexander of Tunis tournament 23 times with multiple Rivermead members winning the championship, most recently Laurier Perrault in 2024.

Most recently, Rivermead co-hosted the 120th Canadian Men's Amateur Championship with our neighbours, the Royal Ottawa Golf Club, in 2025.

With its deep roots in Canadian golf history and a legacy of championship play, Rivermead remains a cornerstone of the sport in the region—honouring its past while continuing to shape the future of the game.
