One of Rivermead’s core values is support for competitive golf. Rivermead has active competitive golf programs for men, women and juniors, and holds a number of mixed competitive golf events each year.
The Men’s program includes Men’s Night League (each Wednesday), a number of special competitive cup events and senior and regular intersectional competitions. Rivermead men are highly competitive in regional, provincial and national tournaments.
The Women have three official weekly groups: the Women’s League (each Tuesday), the Thursday Group and the Weekenders (each Saturday, or occasionally Sunday). Rivermead women also participate actively in senior and regular intersectional competitions, and interclub competitions. Over the past decade, Rivermead women have been at the very top of the “A” class regional intersectional competitions, and over the years a number of Rivermead women have placed high in various regional, provincial and national tournaments.
The Junior program (boys and girls from 10-18, with a new pre-junior program for children 7-9) includes regular clinics and summer camps, parent-junior tournaments and intersectional competitions. Rivermead is proud of the accomplishments of its junior golfers.
The club holds three competitive mixed events annually: the Brunton Cup (spring), Rivermead Day (July) and the Masson Cup (early fall).
In mid-August, the club championships include Class AA, A, B and C flights for men and A, B and C flights for women. These three-day competitions attract large participation among members and are hotly contested each year. The Senior club championships are held in mid-September, with high levels of participation as well. The Junior championships are held in August.
